Friday Concert and Saturday Lingerie/Movie

I got too lazy to blog lately. Or, I just don’t have things to share with you, guys. Well, I had a nice weekend.

FRIDAY

Friday was just great! I was assigned to cover Philippines’ Maestro Ryan Cayabyab’s show here in Cebu. And boy, I was excited. The show was supposed to start at 6pm but due to some technical problems encountered while they were starting to prepare for the concert, the show was a bit delayed. However, the delay was forgivable.

The concert was the last of the BRAVO FILIPINO concert series. BRAVO FILIPINO aims to present the creativity and world-class talent of the Filipinos in terms of fashion, arts, and music. The show lived up to its name. I was impressed by the intricate and powerful voices of the Ryan Cayabyab singers (RCS). The RCS group is the brainchild of Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. Although,I don’t know much of kundimans and other Tagalog songs, I was impressed and amazed at how talented and creative Filipinos truly can be. The group’s performance that night was truly amazing.

My favorite part of the concert was the FINALE. It was when the RCS performed this Tagalog song composed by the Maestro himself and then the Philippine National Anthem was sort-of mixed with the song. With the powerful voices of the singers performing the anthem, everyone in the crowd rose to their feet not only in reverence to the song, or in praise of the singers. That night, we were on our feet, happy and proud to be who are. Proud of our heritage as Filipinos. Indeed, BRAvO FILIPINO!

After the show, I caught up with two old classmates Joverth and Aes. Joverth promised to take us out for dinner that night, and although I was kinda late (we decided to meet around 7pm but I arrived past 8pm), Joverth kept his word. He bought me dinner! After dinner, the three of us played at TIMEZONE Ayala. Among the three of us, it was Joverth who seemed to be really enjoying the games. Aes and I were amused at how Joverth was beaming with childish joy and amazement over TIMEZONE.

SATURDAY

I was assigned to cover a store launching at 3pm. First, I was informed that it was at the 2nd floor of the North Atrium building. The North Atrium building is somewhere along the Mandaue Hi-way and I was thinking of leaving the house around 2:30 since the building is quite near my place. Good thing that I texted someone from the office to inform her that I was on my way to the event. You see, they gave me the wrong location of the event. The launching was not at the North Atrium but at the North wing of SM Cebu.

Yes, I got just there just on time when the owner of the shop was giving out media kits. But I did miss the ribbon cutting ceremony and all the things that came with it. Anyway, food there was great and the white wine was good too. But the best part of that event was when the people from the media were asked to PICK ONE ITEM from the store. Just my luck!!!

You see, the store that opened that day is a lingerie store called HOT PINK LINGERIE. Although named PINK, they do have lingeries in red, black, green and blue. I was impressed by this K-BRA, it’s a bra with a memory pad that follows the contours of your bust. It’s really different from ordinary brassieres. So, most of us there were eyeing this bra even before we knew we had a FREEBIE from that event. The first item I got from their rack was this brown two-piece bikini which i think would look good on me (hehehe!) . However, to our dismay, we were informed that our FREEBIE should be at most worth 1000 pesos. The bikini was around 1350 and I don’t have the extra cash to pay for it. So, I decided to get the K-BRA sold for 995 pesos. Yes, I am happy that I got that lingerie for FREE. I’m not really the kind of person who would want to spend that much on a bra! 995 is expensive for me, you know! So I’m doing HOT PINK LINGERIE a favor now. If you want to check out cool lingerie, visit their store at the North Wing of SM Cebu. and NO they’re not paying me for blogging this!

After the launching, I went to see Joverth and Aes again at Ayala Center. We watched “The Flock”. Richard Gere, Claire Danes, and Avril Lavigne are in the movie. I was really expecting to see Avril all throughout the movie and see how her acting is like. Sad to say, Avril appeared less than ten minutes in the entire movie!! and her name was in the movie poster like she was one of the lead stars! The movie was OK but it kind of scared me. At the beginning of the movie, there’s a line there that says like “somewhere in America, there’s a woman raped/sexually assaulted every two minutes”. That’s creepy, you know. It gets me paranoid!
