With All My Heart
How many times have you caught yourself breaking your own rules? Days ago, a friend asked me a question. “How do you love?” and without hesitation I answered him, “With all my heart.” That sounded cheesy but I meant it.
What’s the point of loving someone when you can’t give yourself completely to that person? So I tend to love with all my heart. And that’s the reason why I don’t want to fall in love with someone right now because I tend to drown in the bittersweet misery of falling in love and breaking my heart. I don’t want to love because I don’t want to give away my heart. Not yet. Not right now.
To lose myself in love is scary. And the pain and agony of finding myself again is unbearable. So I’d rather not fall in love now. But love comes in the most unexpected time, place, and form. And when it hits you, it hits you hard.
I don’t want to break my rules. There are things that should be kept hidden. There are words better left unsaid. And sometimes, to look away from that someone is the best favor I can give myself now. And it’s all because I don’t want to give away my heart.
Like everything else, this too shall pass.
